I find Emily Dickenson's poems and short stories disturbing. I don't know what got me google-ing her up! What more reading her poems.
But I must say, "Death in The Opposite House" (yes, it was our form 5 literature short poem) is something I've always wanted to feel. It's cold and sombre, and ... lonely.
Alas, after a year leaving behind my alma mater I realise I haven't been doing much reading. My English is getting rustier my the minute and I haven't been reading any sort of newspaper for almost 7 months! Not even online newspapers! THIS HAS GOT TO CHANGE.
I started to realise my vocabulary strength wasn't getting any better or stronger. Instead it became weaker. I realised when I started having constant conversations with my Aussie and Japanese friends on YM.
Even a casual conversation during tea time with Yael the Boom Boom the other day in Mori got me struggling finding words and tenses and vocabs and phrases.
:(
I can't live by having a screwed up English. No.
Not when your dad speaks fluent English and expects his eldest daughter to perform a better way of communicating and conversing.
"Without English, how are you going to communicate to the world?" - Papa on English language. Lol.
Oh and not when I have 7 other bombastic English speakers in my aparment...
Not to mention they have the accent as well. What am I to do?
Stare pointlessly as I hurry by my lappie the vegetated laptop and clicking Thesaurus.com finding the meaning of words? *sigh
No can do!
I made a vow to make sure my children learn English the moment their first tooth pops from their gum. Well, literally... And damn right I start committing myself to that vow!
I can't live with another B for my midterm English. Nor an A- for my last sem final.
Reader's Digest!! Where are you!!? For I have yearned you all these months! :(
I pity myself for being a slave to the Internet. All I do is click "submit", "sign in", "yes", "deny" "push it" all day long.
And I'm still doing it nowwww. Click "publish post"! Argh.
